Phew… I did take just a bit of a break there. After the chaos and suffering of April from the A to Z challenge I really needed to take some time. It’s all gone now, the time… it spiraled off into the universe as a stream of clock hands and a busted Coffee Maker. Oh just to clarify my life was chaos. The suffering was nothing more then a way to make you read this. Well… except for the broken nail I got during that time frame which I already discussed (patent pending).
It seems there is not going to be enough coffee again in the house for a while. Today the third pot is now brewing for those of us allergic to both Chaos and Darkness, which is everyone in the house. You see there are now six coffee drinkers in the house. We all use BIG cups, this is the one I have on my desk right now… 20oz coffee goodness holding Tigger-effic awesomeness. I figure My jitters should come with a mascot.
Here is how this works, my Son wakes up between 4:30 and 5am every morning. He sometimes makes the first pot and uses a cup the same size as mine. My middle Daughter wakes around 6:30 or 7am and she sometimes grabs a travel Mug for school. Two down out of a 12 cup coffee machine… twelve cups? There is not an 8oz cup in the house except measuring cups. 7:30 to 8am the other four people in the house wake up and stumble for the coffee super serum. That’s pot number 2 and sometimes 3, by 9am… NINE IN THE MORNING!
This is our machine… the side piece takes coffee grounds in case someone wants to make a cup at 10 at night… 11, 12, 1am and on it goes. Great machine, love it… but the pots are not big enough. So here is the dilemma… Should I get an urn, one of those big ones like a 96 ounce coffee supreme machine the kind they use at functions? Oh.. and I just made Pot number 4 for the day, Wife and I are both home, she on the phone all day doing office work and me typing here and there. Mom is working on a 2000 piece puzzle. I just heard my Son get home , Daughter will be soon… they may want coffee… so Put number 5 is in the pipe already.
…. So what do you think? Seriously… I’m asking. I would have to find a different one since this one wouldn’t fit the mugs under it… but you get the idea right?

Yikes! My mugs are just as big. Who uses dainty cups? We don’t go through quite as much coffee as that since there are fewer people in our house and generally, after my first pot, I’m done for the day. I switch to water with lemon through the day and then tea at night (I’m in weight loss mode). Interesting side note, my husband used to work for Sara Lee Coffee and Tea. We got free coffee for 18 years. The first time I had to buy it I almost choked. He came home smelling like coffee. It was delicious. Then he worked in a chocolate factory. No free chocolate but he came home smelling like fresh baked brownies 🙂 I don’t think I’d like one of the urns because I am not a fan of coffee that’s been on all day. I’d rather wait a minute and make a fresh pot. Just my opinion.

See that is a good point, all day sitting coffee is not as good. Chocolate and Coffee… nice!

My mom has one of those giant urns… she uses it at holiday gatherings. Sometimes she has to fill it multiple times. She just pulls it toward the edge of the counter to accommodate larger mugs.
I always used large mugs but my coffee was getting cold too fast. I’ve been using smaller ones lately but refilling more often. I also got a mug warmer as a gag gift last Christmas but as it turns out, it’s pretty useful! 🙂
I am a fountain of useless information.

Really? The mug warmer works? I swear I used those hand warming pads once to keep my coffee warm. Your “gag” gift seems to be a better solution 🙂

Yes… the mug warmer does work! Just be careful you don’t burn yourself on it. He got it on Amazon… just in case you wanted to know. 🙂

I second scr4pl80’s comment about the urn. I don’t want coffee that has been sitting for too long. I normally have a full pot by myself by 9am. I know cause I am the only one here drinking it. I will opt to suffer and wait for a fresh pot.

Suddenly, I realise how lonely my coffee journey is. I’m the only one that drinks it in my house!

Well that just means more for you! I mean I’ll share if you wanna make the trip here… but its likely pretty far from wherever you are to Long Island NY

Ooh, a New Yorker! I have a friend who lives in Farmington 🙂 But yeah, it’s a long ways away from my humble abode in England 🙂

All I can think about is how expensive supplying k-cups would be in your house if you had one of those coffee makers! No suggestions, here, not a coffee person.

Both my wife and I have Keurigs… Kids got them for us for Mothers Day and Fathers day a few years back so we would have coffee at work lol

I love the smell of coffee, so I’m glad other people drink it. Me? Never touch the stuff.

I hit a point where I was so tired, or maybe bored that I was drinking a large 4 to 5 cups of coffee a day. It doesn’t keep me up though, I’m up anyway caffeine or no caffeine as I have insomnia. Coffee or no coffee bedtime is around 2 or 3 in the morning. Heck I could fall asleep with a cup of coffee in hand if it’s late enough and sleep like a baby…well that is until the actual baby demands my attention.
I love fun mugs too! Mom had one made with my Shopgirl logo on it for Christmas…my second favorite was hand painted by one of my best friends since high school.

I have insomnia as well, not fun at all. Half way through the day though… I’m sleepy. I have on occasion ended up with keyboard imprints on my face 🙂

Oh man, I can’t nap either. But I actually embrace the insomnia, that’s when the best creativity takes hold. 😀
