I do have a question for anyone who can help me though. I have made it through the first 50 Blogs on the list now. I really enjoyed it, different perspectives and stories make me happy. I did run into one problem though. Since I am on WordPress I cannot seem to follow those of you on other platforms. I can link you to my reader which I did for some so they now show in my feed. I’d like them to get what I get though which is that nifty notification saying YAH NEW FOLLOWER!! It’s a small thing I know but when I get that notification it makes me smile.

Anyway if anyone knows a way I would love to hear it.

Im off to help with cooking now… or at least offering moral support while cooking occurs!!

Be safe, well and awesome today everyone!

A to Z Jam, possibly Jelly – A story of two wrong conclusions!

I have two Aunts, well more but, for the purposes of this particular story… TWO! Let’s keep it simple shall we?

Once, a few years ago, or maybe last year, I lose track, my Aunts came to have lunch and visit with my Mom. Now, I have three children one of whom had been away for school but was home on break. This meant she was the center of all of the questions once they caught her. There we are sitting at the table when it begins… the following is a sampling of the questions.

“Where do you go to school?”
“What are you taking at school?”
“I thought you were going to be a chef?”
“What happened to being a teacher?”

My daughter is going to be a Librarian, and she works in a Library. To be fair only one forgot and that’s ok, but it starts the argument (friendly sisterly argument, which I usually hide from). The debate has begun between Chef and Teacher, neither of which were ever on the table as career choices. My Mom says shes a good cook. and that’s why a chef, Aunt P insist on Teacher… Aunt D. well she shakes her head ( Hi Aunt D). Meanwhile my daughter is looking at me with a weird grin and saying things quietly like “I hate kids, unless we use them in cooking”. Which none of the Sisters hear, but starts me to laughing which they do hear… so now I’m getting the look. You all know the look I got, I’m sure.

With that debate over somehow… they start discussing Jam, and Jelly… I think it started with one of them mentioning Teachers again, which was misheard by one as Beaches, and the other as Peaches. Now there is one conversation being misheard by all three as either Beaches, Peaches, or Teachers, they all agree on it being great though. Two of them sync up with the beach theme and the fruit theme so it evolves into Beach Plums being a great Jam or Jelly. At this point they all look at my Daughter and tell her she should make some Jam. She tells them she doesn’t like jam. They then change it to Jelly, she tells them she doesn’t like that either. This goes on, different types of fruit being made into Jam or possibly Jelly. They tell her where to get the Jars in the house, who’s recipe is best, different fruits, using wax to seal it. After each one of these statements my daughter says the same thing, it goes something like this.

“You could make peach Jam”
“I don’t like Jam.”
“Or jelly if you want”
“I dont like Jelly either”
“Use apples, apple jam is really good”
“I still dont like Jam or Jelly, why would I make it”
“Apple Jelly is good too”
“No, No jam, or Jelly.”
“You could use Blueberrys”
“I dont want to use blueberrys, I dont like Jelly”
“Make Blueberry Jam than”
“I don’t like Jam… or Jelly either”

I’m not sure what happened next, I think I may have blacked out though… Through this whole thing I was trying hard not to laugh, and get the “Look” again. Someone may have smacked me one and that’s why I blacked out.

Anyway, Do you like Jam or Jelly and which fruit is your favorite?

P.S. To the one Aunt mentioned above who does read these posts. Yes I know It will be me one day (not to long from now). Love you!

A to Z Challenge – Letter “I” For I am Caught up…

On reading at least, which is important. Getting to read through some posts and comment is an important part of the A to Z challenge. Of course I am still behind on writing and something else I wanted to do this year. I’m unsure if it was done last year, I know Arlee has done it before and I know he did this year. If you aren’t aware there is a Master List of everyone participating in the A to Z challenge and I promised myself I would do that this year too.

I haven’t started yet but I have the list. it is MASTER LIST posted by those awesome A to Z folks so by all means click it if you are interested. Slowly but steadily I will visit each and every blog on the list. Since all I have left to do to catch up on my writing is “J” which I think will be for Jam Hands… or just me teasing some folks. That means tomorrow I will start the list. Go me! I have a plan!

Anyway, I need a picture for this post… I can’t not put some type of picture up. Let’s ee what I have saved I can toss up here!

Gnomes – Again, indeed! GNOMES!

Some of you are aware of my issue with Gnomes… Not like magical gnomes. But the figurines. Although Gnomes in general are a bit irritating. Which is what we are going to discuss now, maybe.

Since the original Gnome tirade I made umm… 9 years ago 🙂 I haven’t really changed my mind. This past year during Christmas there was a deluge of minimalistic Santa Gnomes. They came in a variety of types, Ceramic, fabric and plastic. The gnomes all had different jobs. Some held candle sticks, others salt or pepper. I saw napkin holders, plates, cups, knickknacks of all shapes and sizes. A few examples below.

Bad enough the Garden Gnomes move around and try to attack me when I’m not looking. The ones in the house move about freely even though we got another dog a few years back to (in my mind at least) kill the things, or at least curtail the expansion. One of my kids even got me a Godzilla statue that is eating and crushing the gnomes, turns out it’s not real, only a decoration.

Now the Gnomes are back in full force and are trying to convert children to their cause. By Masquerading as cute little Santa’s and seeming to be useful by holding food, spices, and decorations for the Christmas season they are indoctrinating the youth. When these poor children get older they will look favorable upon all things gnomish. Suddenly more yards with gnomes, more curio’s filled with gnomes… All of my hard work in the past of trying to call out the horrors of Gnomes… Gone! Which is why we have this post today… Dont be fooled. I have attached the past Gnome Articles below. Be safe!
