Imagination is not rare, but rarely used as an adult except in the confines of our own minds. True of all, no, no it is not. We all run things through our minds, things we could have said, should have said or wish we said. There are those that embrace their imagination fully and put it out into the world.
need an example, all of us writing on these blogs. We take something within us and throw it out into the world to be examined by others. We take the risk of putting ourselves out there in the hopes of… what? Well, for me it’s in the hope of making someone smile, or laugh on occasion think. Probably true for all of us. A to Z helps motivate me especially this year(s). I won’t claim it’s easy for anyone, for me it’s gotten harder in recent years, I can’t remember words sometimes. I will know there is a word for something that means precisely what I want, but wont be able to remember the word. For example.. Spooky vs Preternatural 🙂 sometimes spooky is what you need others, its just not enough.
There are also those of us who dance, no one I know :). I can see the joy they have in it. Figure Skating, Ballroom, Hip Hop, Breakdancing 🙂 All forms of dance is an expression of imagination. Ballet I think does it best. Some of us Sing (in the shower at least) others like my younger daughter audition for AGT. Songs always make sense in the moments we need them. Opera, Classical… for me Yo-Yo Ma and the Piano Guys. Painting is a big one, I cannot paint, not even by numbers but my Grandfather did, him and Bob Ross working on those happy trees. Drawing, oh no… I can make some of the BEST stick figures you have ever seen but noton par with some of my kids friends.
Imagination when we are kids is so much simpler, imagine a career.. imagine a wedding, imagine my Lego ship taking off with me in it… going to space. Imagine a cure for cancer… everything starts with a good imagination. Another good example of imagination… movies taking an idea and adding to it. Today, the Indian in the Cupboard.
