I seem to be getting quite a few readers over this weekend currently over 300 today and about 1000 since Fridays Memorial Day post. It’s nice to know so many people are interested in what Memorial day means as well as the pictures I had put up. Since I have what amounts to something of a captive audience (honest those shackles are imaginary) I thought I might as well see if I could lend a small hand to Veterans in general.
To fulfill President Lincoln’s promise “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans.
To raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
Since December 2002, we’ve supported approximately ONE MILLION deployed U.S. troops with loving care packages and letters from all over the nation. This was made only with the help of tens of thousands of generous and patriotic friends in the U.S. and abroad. To date, we’ve sent more than 120,000 enormous boxes (APPROXIMATELY 70 LBS EACH) and more than 40 million letters and cards we can do to show our troops how much we care about them. Our troops need to know that we support and appreciate the sacrifices they make for us, our families, and our future. This is about giving back to those who give all.
Our Mission: The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
Millions of times each year at hundreds of locations around the world, the USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families. A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. The USO is not part of the U.S. government, but is recognized by the Department of Defense, Congress and President of the United States, who serves as Honorary Chairman of the USO.
"Whatever you do, don´t stop writing, write only for yourself if that´s what you want". It might sound as nothing, but in a time in which I doubted so much about myself, it meant the world for me.
